Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Royal Derby Hospital, is recruiting an administrator to support research projects and postgraduate education in the department. You will work as part of a team with excellent communication, undertaking liaison with research patients, data recording and ensuring protocols are followed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years administrative experience, preferably in healthcare, research or event management.
  • Good IT knowledge of Word, Excel and online meeting software.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with research patients and ensure adherence to research protocols.
  • Record patient data and support trial monitoring activities.
  • Organise national courses for health professionals, including venue and hospitality bookings.
  • Coordinate speaker and delegate liaison, production of course materials and arranging financial aspects.
  • Manage online meetings/webinars and maintain the department website.
  • Develop and implement new systems for information management and governance.
  • Handle day-to-day queries, appointments and milestones; ensure adequate secretarial cover.
  • Support safety compliance and contribute to surveys/audits as needed.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pulvertaft Hand Centre at the Royal Derby Hospital. We are looking to recruit an administrator to support research projects and postgraduate education in the department.

We are looking to recruit a good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will have good IT knowledge of online meeting software, Word and Excel and at least 2 years administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare, research or event management.

You need to be able to use your own initiative, have good attention to detail and work well within a team.

The role holder will be responsible for liaising with research patients, ensuring research protocols are followed, recording patient data and working alongside trial monitors.

In addition, the department runs national courses for health professionals and this role will be responsible for the organisation of these courses.

This includes venue and hospitality bookings, speaker and delegate liaison, production of course material and arranging the financial aspects associated with course delivery.

Some of our courses are now virtual so the role holder must be confident in managing online meetings and webinars. This role will also be responsible for maintaining the department website.

Develop and implement new systems of working inline with the department projects including record management, ensuring that systems exist for effective management of information.

Day to day management: dealing with queries from patients and health professionals, managing research participant appointments, liaising with postgraduate course faculty, ensuring research and course milestones are met.

Ensuring secretarial cover is adequate to continue delivering the service and maintain an awareness of whole department activities.

Contribute to the safety and security of the department, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and Trust policy.

Prepare research information highlighting agreed targets to assist the smooth running of the research projects.

To provide advice to the team re information governance issues, data protection and Caldicott issues

To carry out surveys and audits as necessary to own work.
