Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council's Request Management team is seeking a capable individual to join as a Request Support Assistant on a fixed-term two-year contract. The role sits within the Information Management Service and supports compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

Qualifications

  • Experience with information rights legislation (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI Act 2000, EIR 2004).

Job description

Request Management are looking for an effective and efficient individual for a fixed term of two years to join our busy team in the role of Request Support Assistant. The Request Management Team sits within the Information Management Service and plays a vital role in ensuring Gloucestershire County Council meets its statutory obligations under information rights legislation. The team manages requests made under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004. Working closely with services across the Council, the team provides expert advice, supports compliance with legal requirements, promotes good information governance practices and helps ensure openness, transparency and the protection of individuals' information rights., The Request Support Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to Request Management, helping to ensure the effective delivery of the Council's information rights and information management services. The role is responsible for logging and monitoring requests, processing and collating information, maintaining accurate records, providing helpdesk support, and coordinating meetings, training and other service activities. Working with sensitive and confidential information, the post holder supports compliance with legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection legislation, while delivering a high standard of customer service to colleagues, partner organisations and members of the public. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are key to ensuring the smooth operation of the service.

The council is not currently able to offer sponsorship in this role. Candidates will need to have right to work that enables them to commit to at least 6 months' employment.
