The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Reporting Scientist to join our fantastic team at our site based in Heathrow. This is a truly exciting time to begin or continue your career with our first-class business, as a Reporting Scientist you will be responsible for the interpretation and reporting of results of drugs of abuse in urine and oral fluid and providing expert witness statements when required. This role involves a variety of tasks including assisting in the developments of new methods to continually improve our capability and delight our customers.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
The successful candidate will also be expected to carry out the following:

  1. Interpretation of analytical data, reporting of results and providing expert witness statements when required.
  2. Delivery of work projects, such as developing new methods as well as improving existing ones effectively to agreed deadlines in response to customer demand and organisational change.
  3. Obtain and maintain appropriate levels of accreditation for the laboratory.
  4. Provide guidance and advice for all issues relating to quality within the laboratory.
  5. Ensure that internal and external quality controls are carried out, and that appropriate corrective and preventive measures are taken to ensure standards are maintained.
  6. Organise and help develop direct and indirect reports to improve the delivery of day-to-day work and projects.
  7. Ensure equipment is effectively and economically maintained so that the laboratory function is not compromised by unscheduled downtime. (GC-MS, LC-MS-MS, GC-MS-MS).
  8. Participating in the technical work such as extraction of drugs of abuse.
  9. Generate and implement ideas in line with CI.
  10. Demonstrate an awareness of, and compliance with, health and safety regulations, and act as a COSHH advisor.
  11. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  12. As part of the team ensure that operational targets are met and exceeded where possible.
  13. Achieving key performance indicator targets.
  14. Any queries are dealt with in a professional and timely manner ensuring TAT is met and customer satisfaction.
  15. Provide expert witness interpretations.

Qualifications
The ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone with a degree in Chemistry or Science related subject along with at least 5 years of relevant experience (preferable but not essential), is highly motivated, enthusiastic and possesses the competence and team spirit to support others and contribute to a positive culture.
