Job summary

Igne Group Limited, Hamilton, seeks an experienced Reporting Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will review site investigation data and produce high-quality factual and interpretative geotechnical reports, ensuring QA and client standards are met.

You will coordinate laboratory testing, support tenders, and mentor junior team members in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. A degree in geotechnical/engineering and GIR/report-writing experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a geotechnical, geological, or engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience within the Ground Investigation industry, producing high-quality factual reports and GIRs.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical investigation techniques, soil mechanics, geology, and relevant industry standards.
  • Knowledge of ICC Ground Investigation contracts, NEC3/NEC4, and CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Excellent technical report-writing, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Committed to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
  • Review and interpret site investigation data, including logs, laboratory results, and monitoring records.
  • Manage project data and develop factual logs and preliminary ground models.
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are followed, maintaining the accuracy and reliability of project deliverables.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing programmes and support borehole design where required.
  • Provide technical support for tenders, including scope development, cost estimates, and technical submissions.
  • Collaborate with Project Delivery Teams to ensure reports are delivered on time and to client requirements.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry standards, specifications, and guidance.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, professionalism, and company values.
