Job summary

Igne is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the GI Scotland division in Hamilton, Glasgow. You will manage large ground investigation projects and produce interpretative reports, with expected chartership or progress towards it.

Role requires strong communication, team work, and travel with a full UK driving licence. Salary circa £45,000 plus generous benefits and a range of pensions and health schemes offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in contract management of ground investigation projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence (travel required).

Responsibilities

  • Site investigation contract supervision and client liaison.
  • Soil and rock logging to current guidelines.
  • Trial pit works.
  • In-situ testing.
  • Environmental groundwater and gas monitoring.
  • Timely submission of site information (drilling records, timesheets).
  • Health and safety responsibilities including site practices and inductions.

Salary: circa £45,000 dependent on experience, plus generous benefits

Igne are seeking to appointSeniorGeotechnical Engineerto join the successful and expanding Ground Investigation Division (GI Scotland) based from Hamilton, Glasgow. You will be responsible for managing large complex ground investigation projects and have the expertise to write first class interpretative reports . It will be expected that you bring a significant amount of experience and be chartered or actively working towards it.

Key responsibilities
  • Site investigation contract supervision / management (of drilling rigs and personnel) and liaising with clients
  • Soil and rock logging to current guidelines
  • Trial pitting works
  • In-situ testing
  • Environmental groundwater / gas monitoring and sampling
  • Timely submission of site information, such as: drilling records, weekly timesheets etc
  • Health and safety responsibilities in connection with preparing site-specific working practice documentation, site inductions and ensuring site operative welfare and safety.
The following are requirements for this position
  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in a related subject (Geotechnical Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology and Environmental Science or related discipline)
  • Previous experience in contract management of ground investigation projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and reporting abilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Full driving licence (travel is required)
