Job summary

Line Up Aviation is seeking a Repairs Design Engineer to join on a contract basis in Filton, with 60% onsite work. You will lead repair tasks, author repair instructions and engage with Design Organization to ensure regulatory and safety standards are met.

You will evaluate structural damage, develop repair procedures for Airbus fleet, and liaise with customers and stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality engineering services.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in aircraft structures and repair principles, including metals and composites.
• Experience with Airbus drawings, specifications and airframe repair methods.
• Exposure to A400M or A350 platforms is advantageous.
• Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods and related standards.
• English language proficiency and ability to liaise with customers & stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Airbus IT tools and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute repair tasks within a small team on in-service aircraft.
• Describe actions needed to repair aircraft via Structural Repair Instructions.
• Provide structural repair support, devising solutions for minor and major repairs.
• Investigate damage history to ensure consistent, informed problem resolution.
• Liaise with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Assist in developing generic repair procedures to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Engage with Design Organization, preparing approval documents for repairs.

Salary: GBP52 - GBP52 per hour

Our client has an opportunity for a Repairs Engineer to join them on a contract basis until December 2026. You will be responsible for Authoring, Leading and executing repair tasks within a small team.

Role: Repairs Design Engineer
Location: Filton, 60% onsite
Hours: 35 per week
Hourly Rate: Up to £52 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required before starting

What you’ll be doing:

• Evaluate daily customer requests regarding structural damage on in-service aircraft.
• Describe all the actions needed to repair aircraft via Structural Repair Instructions.
• Providing Structural Repair Support: Leveraging experience and technical expertise to address complex structural repair matters. This includes devising innovative solutions for both minor and major repairs requested by customers ensuring high standards of safety and reliability.
• Utilizing a deep understanding of historical damage and repair scenarios to investigate and identify the existence of similar previous cases. This ensures the provision of consistent, well-informed support and enhances the efficiency of problem resolution processes.
• Customer and Stakeholder Liaison: Employing communication skills to effectively liaise with internal and external customers & stakeholders.
• Development of Generic Repair Procedures: Assist in creating and refining generic repair procedures based on an in-depth knowledge of recurring structural issues. These procedures are designed to streamline repair processes, reduce downtime, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of the Airbus fleet.
• Provide customers with highly efficient and timely structural repair and engineering services, informed by a thorough understanding of fleet operations and structural integrity requirements.
• Design Organization Engagement: Actively participating in Design Organization activities by preparing and releasing critical approval documents ensuring that all structural repairs meet stringent regulatory and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in aircraft structures (preferably Airbus structures).
• Expertise in aircraft structural repair principles (both metallic and composite).
• In-depth knowledge of metallic and composite materials.
• Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods.
• Knowledge of Airbus drawings & Specifications is a plus.
• A400M or A350 experience
• Desirable: has or does hold RTE1, RTE2 or RTE3 delegation
• Language Skills:
  • Proficiency in English
• IT Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Airbus IT tools is advantageous.
