Job summary

Morson Edge in Filton is seeking an experienced Repair Design Engineer to work on wing repairs in Filton, Bristol. The role involves authoring, leading and delivering repair tasks within a small team to maintain fleet integrity.

You will evaluate customer requests, develop repair instructions, support complex repairs, and engage with customers and stakeholders while contributing to the creation of generic repair procedures for streamlined processes and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in aircraft structures and repair principles.
• Knowledge of metallic and composite materials and NDT methods.
• RTE delegation experience is a plus.
• Experience with wing repairs is preferred but other structural repairs are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate daily customer requests regarding structural damage on in-service aircraft.
• Describe all actions needed to repair aircraft via Structural Repair Instructions.
• Provide Structural Repair Support and devise solutions for repairs to ensure safety and reliability.
• Investigate historical damage/repair scenarios to reference similar prior cases for consistency.
• Liaise with internal/external customers and stakeholders effectively.
• Assist in developing and refining generic repair procedures to streamline processes.
• Provide efficient repair and engineering services informed by fleet operations and structural integrity.
• Engage with Design Organization to release critical approval documents meeting regulatory standards.

Job Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Repair Design Engineer dealing within wing repairs for our client in Filton, Bristol. The Repair Design Engineer will be responsible for Authoring, Leading and executing repair tasks within a small team.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate daily customer requests regarding structural damage on in-service aircraft.
• Describe all the actions needed to repair aircraft via Structural Repair Instructions.
• Providing Structural Repair Support: Leveraging experience and technical expertise to address complex structural repair matters. This includes devising innovative solutions for both minor and major repairs requested by customers ensuring high standards of safety and reliability.
• Utilizing a deep understanding of historical damage and repair scenarios to investigate and identify the existence of similar previous cases. This ensures the provision of consistent, well-informed support and enhances the efficiency of problem resolution processes.
• Customer and Stakeholder Liaison: Employing communication skills to effectively liaise with internal and external customers & stakeholders.
• Development of Generic Repair Procedures: Assist in creating and refining generic repair procedures based on an in-depth knowledge of recurring structural issues. These procedures are designed to streamline repair processes, reduce downtime, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of the fleet.
• Provide customers with highly efficient and timely structural repair and engineering services, informed by a thorough understanding of fleet operations and structural integrity requirements.
• Design Organization Engagement: Actively participating in Design Organization activities by preparing and releasing critical approval documents ensuring that all structural repairs meet stringent regulatory and safety standards.

• Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods.
• Desirable: has or does hold RTE1, RTE2 or RTE3 delegation
