Severn Trent Plc in Gloucester, Staverton, seeks a Repair and Maintenance Operative to fault-find, excavate, and repair the underground water network. You’ll work a rolling 7-week shift pattern (days, afternoons and nights) on a 24/7/365 basis, outdoors in all weather, with training to support safety and professional growth.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence, good stamina, and a background in repair and maintenance across a large-scale network.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and repair the underground water network and mains assets.
• Carry out excavation work in public highways and on Severn Trent sites.
• Operate site machinery and assist with data upkeep/back-office systems.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Uphold safety standards and deliver high-quality repair and maintenance services.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Distribution Service Delivery Team to become a Repair and Maintenance Operative (internally known as aDistribution Operative!) at Gloucester, Staverton.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Working in this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Severn Trent’s Underground Water network. You’ll be tasked with the upkeep of our Clean Water Network and any required repairs of our Clean Water Main Assets, furthermore you will be conducting excavation within, public highway on Severn Trent sites and private lands.

You’ll put the needs of our customers first, responding to and resolving any issues raised by our customers or members of the public. Your stake holder management skills will also be used to liaise with other departments and our contract partners. Within this role, every day is different, you’ll get to undertake the full range of duties involved in delivering an effective repair and maintenance service. Including but not limited to; the repair and replacement of existing water mains & ancillary assets, laying and also working on valves, washouts & meters.

As our repair and maintenance operative, not only will you be operating machinery out on site, you’ll also be using up to date technology to help our back office with their data upkeep, so this really is a great opportunity to utilise and develop your skills all round!

Within this role you will be part of a rolling 7 week shift pattern (24/7, 365). Furthermore this is an outdoor role, working in all weathers, so if you don’t mind being outside and love getting stuck right in, let me tell you more.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A full UK driving License is needed as you will be required to independently travel to depots/ bases.
• This role is physically demanding and will require an individual who has good strength and stamina.
• Having a background in repair and maintenance on a large scale network is essential with previous experience in excavation.
• The ability to apply rational thinking and technical expertise to resolve complex challenges.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complicated technical messages in a simple way.
• A positive attitude with a strong customer focus are essential.
