JCT600 Ltd. is recruiting a Rental Manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Cleckheaton. You will ensure smooth day‑to‑day operation of the Rental department and drive growth through retail and local corporate sales while delivering excellent customer service.

The role focuses on managing budget, P&L, and a local sales/marketing strategy, with line management of the Rental team and close collaboration with VWFS and insurers. A clear path for training and development is offered.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a rental role is essential.
• Experience of working to service levels and quality measures.
• Strong numeracy and literacy with strong verbal and written communication.
• Driving licence with clean record.

• Production of business plans for the Rental Department.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve issues.
• Line management of the Rental team.

• Daily monitoring of vehicle availability and status.
• Complete vehicle inspections and pre-rent checks.
• Coordinate month-end close downs with Finance.
• Credit control for corporate accounts.
• Report damage/accidents to VWFS and arrange repairs.

Job Summary

As a Rental Manager for Volkswagen Commercials you will ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Rental department. With responsibility for the growth and profitability of the department through the development of sales to both retail and local corporate customers, you will consistently drive and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Overall accountability for the department budget and P&L management.
• Promoting the Rental brand and Volkswagen Commercials locally, implementing a local sales and marketing strategy to support both the national corporate and retail business. Increasing the number of local corporate accounts within the designated area.
• Production of business plans and strategies associated with the development of the Rental Department.
• Resolving any problems and delivering outstanding customer service.
• Line management of the Rental team.
• Liaising with the general public and corporate clients both on the phone and in person.
• Monitoring of daily desktop reports, vehicle availability, utilisation, vehicles overdue, expiring insurance policies of corporate customers, expiring credit card authorisations, excess mileage etc.
• Clear vehicle status management to include the weekly audit of vehicles.
• Processing payments and ID checks correctly, including pre‑authorisation / card details / credit checks etc.
• Ensuring that a thorough internal and external inspection is carried out on all vehicles including checking tyre pressure, oil level and general presentation prior to rent.
• Month end close down finance procedures and liaison with the Finance Department.
• Credit control lead for the corporate account customers.
• Timely reporting of damage/accident notifications to VWFS and action repairs in conjunction with the relevant insurer.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a rental role is essential.
• A customer‑centric approach, always striving to deliver service above customer expectations.
• Experience of working to service levels and quality measures.
• BVRLA City & Guilds Rental Operator Skills Certificate is desirable.
• Experience of managing a team, mentoring colleagues to achieve results.
• The ability to prioritise and manage workload independently, working under pressure in a fast moving environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• High standards of numeracy and literacy and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A driving licence free from excessive penalties.
