Job summary

MCS Group is recruiting a Power System Evolution Engineer to join a leading organisation driving Northern Ireland's renewable energy transition. You will model and analyse the power system, focusing on stability, system strength, reserves, and ramping, helping forecast needs up to a decade ahead, and supporting renewable integration and interconnection.

The successful candidate will have an engineering degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and excellent

Qualifications

University degree in Engineering or a related discipline with at least 3 years' relevant experience.
Strong technical knowledge of generation, demand, enabling technologies and connections to the power system.
Proven experience in power system analysis and modelling.
Experience using power system modelling software such as PLEXOS, PSS/E, PowerFactory, DSA tools, MATLAB or similar.
Strong analytical and data-handling skills, with advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative technical team.

Responsibilities

Undertake advanced technical modelling and analysis focusing on dynamic stability, system strength, reserve and ramping requirements.
Forecast future operational needs and capabilities up to 10 years ahead.
Support renewable integration and interconnection.
Communicate complex technical information clearly to stakeholders.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
