Job summary

MCS Group is recruiting a Power System Evolution Engineer to join a leading organisation in Northern Ireland's transition to renewable energy. You will undertake advanced modelling to evolve the power system and deliver a roadmap to 100% renewable electricity by 2035.

The role focuses on dynamic stability, system strength, reserve and ramping, forecasting needs up to a decade ahead, and supporting renewable integration and interconnection.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of generation, demand and enabling technologies.
• Experience with power system modelling software.
• Strong analytical and data-handling skills with advanced Excel.

MCS Group is proud to be recruiting for a Power System Evolution Engineer to join a leading organisation at the forefront of Northern Ireland's transition to a renewable energy future.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the evolution of the power system and the delivery of a roadmap focused on enabling 100% renewable electricity by 2035.

The successful candidate will undertake advanced technical modelling and analysis, with a particular focus on dynamic stability, system strength, reserve and ramping requirements. Your work will help forecast future operational needs and capabilities up to 10 years ahead, supporting the continued integration of renewable generation and interconnection.

• A university degree in Engineering or another relevant discipline, with at least 3 years' relevant experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of generation, demand, enabling technologies and emerging technologies connecting to the power system.
• Proven experience in power system analysis and modelling.
• Experience using power system modelling software such as PLEXOS, PSS/E, PowerFactory, DSA tools, MATLAB or similar.
• Strong analytical and data-handling skills, using your advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative technical team.
