Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is seeking a renal dietitian to join the renal dietetics team. The post offers Band 6 development with possible Band 5 entry and full training, with progression to Band 6 based on competences after 6–12 months.

The role covers Derriford Hospital, Plymouth Dialysis Unit and satellite/community clinics across the South Hams and North West Devon, requiring travel by car. HCPC registration and CPD are essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
• Experience with renal patients and renal dietetics.
• Evidence of communication and behaviour change skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert, evidence-based renal dietetic care to kidney patients and carers.
• Perform nutritional assessment and develop care plans with realistic goals.
• Deliver renal nutrition education to patients and staff.
• Collaborate with the renal MDT and participate in service development.
• Travel between hospital sites to provide renal dietetic clinics and support.
• Represent the renal dietetic service in MDT meetings and ensure dietetic input in decisions.
