Job Description:

An In-House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The successful candidate will join the legal team, currently consisting of two members, to assist the Group Legal Estates Director by providing strategic legal advice for the Board. The role involves responding efficiently to business requests to secure new sites and minimize disposal costs for closed branches, with the position based in Essex or fully remote.

Main Duties:

1. Managing property portfolios, including grants and renewals of commercial leases, transfer of leases, applications for consent, variations, surrendering leases, settlement agreements, and handling acquisitions and disposals of commercial properties.
2. Assisting with portfolio management, lease, legal, and maintenance issues, liaising with the Group Estates Director.
3. Handling property acquisitions and disposals in line with Board approvals.
4. Minimizing costs and liabilities for closed branches by acting promptly.
5. Addressing queries related to business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
