Job summary

Access Talent Group is seeking an experienced Water Surge Modeller to support high-impact projects for major UK water utilities. The role focuses on transient analysis and hydraulic network modelling with opportunities to influence CAPEX planning.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant engineering degree and have strong communication skills to present technical insight to project teams. Roles offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in transient/surge modelling within the clean water sector.
• Strong understanding of clean water network hydraulics and asset behaviour.
• Ability to interpret SCADA/telemetry data for model calibration and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead surge and transient modelling assignments for clean water distribution and trunk networks.
• Analyse pump start/stop sequences, valve operations, and system reconfigurations.
• Collaborate with hydraulic modellers, asset planners and engineers to embed surge analysis into network optimisation and CAPEX planning.
• Review SCADA/telemetry data to validate model performance and diagnose transient behaviour.
• Develop surge mitigation strategies and contribute to asset specifications such as air valves and surge vessels.
• Produce technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members and support capability development.
