Uncertain times call for certain measures, and for L&C customers, they come in the form of protecting the things that matter most: their homes, families, and lifestyles. Being a Protection Adviser during this ongoing period of uncertainty is not only about offering L&C customers reassurance, but also about having a role that offers you a steady career path with clear progression.
When talking to our customers, you'll use your emphatic ear to really listen to their concerns so that you can deliver and pursue the right kind of insurance. Often a customer might not know exactly what they need, so you'll be advising them on options such as Critical Illness Insurance, Income Protection, and Life Insurance, documenting your findings and recommendations throughout the process.
It's also important that you deliver a perfect balance of outstanding customer care, regulatory adherence, and impressive workload efficiency to exceed your performance targets and KPIs. This will be achieved through eagle-eyed attention to detail, a warm and friendly approach that builds rapport and trust, and really understanding each customer's needs.
As L&C is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), compliance is an important part of this role. You need to ensure you deliver advice within strictly defined regulatory rules and guidance, as well as adhering to the internal quality standards L&C has put in place.
We are classified as an Enhanced Firm under the FCA's Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role will officially fall into the Conduct element of the regime, meaning you'll be personally subject to the five FCA Conduct Rules if successful in your application. Don't worry if you're not familiar with these; training will be provided.
Since this is a customer-facing advice role, L&C has decided to treat all Advisers (Mortgage & Protection) equally, verifying your integrity, competence, and financial soundness as we do with our Mortgage Advisers.
Your background in sales and customer service has already helped hone your listening skills and develop empathy that customers can really sense when they talk to you. Now you're looking to push your career to the next level, focusing on personal and professional development.
You will have developed these skills in a similar role within finance or another sector. You should have a genuine interest in money matters, motivation to deliver the best outcomes, and organizational skills to maximize bonus opportunities.
