Job summary

Tailscale is seeking a Software Engineer, AI Enablement to help the engineering org adopt AI-assisted development. You’ll join a small, high-leverage team reporting to our co-founder, building tools and workflows that help engineers ship faster and safer with AI.

This foundational role offers latitude to shape AI enablement, with visibility into how teams adopt the tools and how the company scales AI across engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Genuine, daily fluency with modern AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Pi, or similar).
• Experience building and shipping internal tools or developer-facing automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication and internal advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive internal AI-enablement roadmap with engineering leadership.
• Build and iterate on tools, workflows, and practices to help engineers ship faster with AI.
• Track adoption and measure impact on velocity and quality; report to leadership.
