Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain to shape the long-term data platform strategy and scale our data ecosystem for hundreds of millions of users. The role emphasizes building scalable, cloud-native data pipelines and partnering with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to deliver durable data solutions.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and balance performance with cost and maintainability

Qualifications

Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
Deep experience building reliable distributed data pipelines with modern tooling.
Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, and quality practices.

Responsibilities

Define and drive long-term data engineering strategy for the domain.
Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms for analytics, ML, and subscriber experiences.
Partner with cross-functional teams to turn complex business challenges into durable data solutions.
Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices for data quality, observability, and reliability.
Design data models and platform architecture to support growth toward one billion users.
Simplify complex systems and reduce technical debt across the data ecosystem.
Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering.
