Job summary

Senior Cyber Security Engineer role in the UK (Remote/South Wales) offers a hands-on security engineering challenge across a Microsoft-centric estate. You will design, implement and continually improve security controls in Azure, Entra ID, CA, and Privileged Identity Management, reducing risk and strengthening identity protection.

This is not a traditional SOC; you’ll influence security strategy, work with cross-functional teams and help mature cloud security, data governance and resilience

Qualifications

• Experience in a Security Engineering or Cyber Engineering role.
• Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Experience securing Azure environments in production.
• Understanding Entra ID security, CA and identity governance.
• Experience with vulnerability management and remediation.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and control implementation.

Responsibilities

• Enhance Microsoft Defender and Sentinel capabilities across the estate.
• Design and implement security controls within Azure environments.
• Lead improvements in Entra ID security, CA, and PIM.
• Drive vulnerability management, remediation planning and risk reduction.
• Implement and maintain data protection and information governance using Microsoft Purview.
• Collaborate with infra, cloud and project teams to embed security.
• Contribute to incident response and improve detection capabilities.
• Provide security guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support compliance against frameworks including NCSC CAF, ISO27001, NIST CSF and CIS Controls.
