Job summary

Alexander Associates are looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead civil design tasks for water and wastewater infrastructure. The role is delivered on a fully remote basis within the UK.

You will develop designs, calculations and specifications, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Process, Mechanical, EICA and Structural disciplines. Mentoring junior engineers and delivering safe, cost-efficient solutions are central to the role.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in civil engineering design within water, wastewater or utilities.
• Understanding of civil principles relating to treatment works and pumping stations.
• Experience producing/reviewing calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
• Ability to deliver practical, buildable designs with safety and whole-life costs in mind.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and project delivery.
• Chartered or working towards Chartership in a relevant institution.
• Civil Engineering degree preferred or minimum related qualification.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly and commercially.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design tasks to agreed standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop designs, calculations, layouts, specs and technical docs for water/wastewater projects.
• Produce cost-effective civil solutions considering constructability and life-cycle costs.
• Review and assure design outputs for quality and standards.
• Coordinate activities with Process, Mechanical, EICA, Structural, Digital and Commissioning teams.
• Identify and manage technical risks and optimization opportunities throughout the lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentices in the team.
• Build strong relationships with clients, discipline leads and suppliers.
