Job summary

USALCO is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer to build, extend, and deliver a library of production-ready models powering water-treatment optimization tools. You will translate domain science into robust Python code, maintaining calibration, validation, and documentation while collaborating with the Digital Solutions team.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering or equivalent applied depth.
• Strong Python engineering and ability to ship model code in a Git workflow.
• Scientific modeling discipline including calibration, validation, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend, and polish the library of fundamental models behind Virtual Jar's coagulation train in Python.
• Collaborate with the Digital Solutions team to refine and pressure-test requirements.
• Ensure production-quality code with calibration, validation, and honest uncertainty reporting.
• Expand modeling across coagulant and adjacent treatment processes (organic polymers, filtration, pre-oxidation, adsorption).
• Support software implementation with engineers; document model specs and performance.
• Fold regulatory drivers into models through collaboration with subject-matter experts.
