Job summary

Clifton Search invites applications for an In House Counsel role in Somerset. You will join a close-knit legal team, leading on complex commercial contracts and advising on risk, regulatory, data protection and governance matters across the business.

The role demands UK-qualified solicitors with strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, capable of balancing risk and reward to enable commercial growth. Flexible working and a competitive package are offered.

Qualifications

• UK qualified solicitor with private practice and/or in-house experience in commercial law.
• Expert in contract law with exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of data protection law and information governance.
• Experience of competition and regulatory law is desirable.
• Strong influencing skills and ability to present complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead on major commercial contracts and manage legal risk in supplier relationships and stock contracts.
• Provide expert legal advice on strategic projects and a broad range of commercial law issues.
• Develop templates, standard terms and playbooks to ensure consistency.
• Support data protection compliance in contractual relationships and advise on regulatory issues.
• Deliver training to internal teams on contract risk, compliance and processes.
• Support dispute management pre-litigation and collaborate with external counsel when needed.
