Job summary

P&M Recruitment is partnering with a respected Building Services Consultancy to appoint a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer. This fully remote role offers leadership, autonomy and the chance to influence project delivery and departmental direction.

You will own multiple projects, mentor engineers and act as the technical authority on all mechanical design matters, working with seasoned professionals on prestigious developments.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Services Consultancy environments.
• Strong residential experience, including high-rise developments.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical building services design.
• Proven track record delivering RIBA Stages 4-7 design and coordination.
• Experience managing multiple projects and leading engineering teams.
• Strong client facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining high technical standards.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design on multiple projects from concept to construction.
• Provide technical leadership across all stages of project delivery.
• Review and approve calculations, reports, schedules and design deliverables.
• Act as client-facing lead on mechanical engineering matters.
• Lead design team meetings and provide technical guidance.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with Electrical, Public Health, and Architectural teams.
• Respond to client, consultant and contractor comments and queries.
• Attend site surveys, coordination meetings and inspections as required.
