Job summary

Team4rec is seeking a Database Engineer to own PostgreSQL performance across live, data-intensive platforms. You will work with developers and DevOps to optimise data access and shape scalable database solutions.

This remote UK role offers a £50,000 annual salary in a permanent position, with opportunities to innovate and implement practical database improvements while owning the end-to-end performance of the system.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on PostgreSQL in production with excellent SQL skills.
• Proven query optimisation and performance-tuning experience.
• Experience with indexes and execution plans.
• Knowledge of relational modelling, constraints and data integrity.
• Experience handling large datasets and efficient search/retrieval.
• Ability to investigate problems and propose practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Review and improve PostgreSQL schemas, indexes and queries.
• Investigate slow queries using plans, stats, logs and monitoring.
• Optimise data-access patterns and application joins.
• Collaborate with developers to improve database design for new features.
• Organise and index large historical data archives for efficient access.
• Design views and reporting structures where appropriate.
