Job summary

Axiom Maths is seeking mentors to run weekly online maths circles for high-attaining pupils during term time. The role is remote with optional in-person opportunities in your local area. You will receive training and curriculum materials, and you will be paid per maths circle with flexible hours in the evenings and weekends.

You’ll need a strong maths background, be highly organised and able to engage pupils from diverse backgrounds. Start date is January 2027, with paid training in late 2026.

Qualifications

• Passion for maths with strong conceptual understanding.
• Organised, self-motivated and able to work online.
• Pursuing/completed STEM degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for each session by watching the intro video, solving problems, reading guidance notes and planning how to draw out maths from pupils.
• Lead sessions that spark curiosity, stretch thinking and inspire.
• Build a community of mathematicians; help pupils see themselves as part of a wider network.
• Report weekly on pupils' attendance and share feedback on curriculum resources to help improve materials.
• Complete mentor surveys and contribute to progress reports and programme reviews.
• Safeguard and promote pupil welfare; adhere to data protection and IT policies; attend training and participate in quality assurance.
