Job summary

VennGroup is partnering with a South West Local Authority to recruit an experienced HR Consultant focused on Job Evaluation and policy development. The role involves leading GLPC scheme applications, advising on cases, and shaping workforce policy and culture.

You will work mostly remotely with occasional office attendance 2–3 times per year, supporting restructuring and ensuring pay equity across roles within the authority.

Qualifications

• Significant local authority HR experience essential.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of GLPC/NJC job evaluation schemes.
• Strong policy development and complex casework experience.
• CIPD qualification or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support on Job Evaluation processes using GLPC scheme to evaluate roles and maintain pay equity.
• Support organisational projects requiring HR, policy, or job evaluation expertise.
• Act as a key HR liaison with managers and stakeholders to promote fair people practices.
• Review and develop robust HR policies for clarity, fairness and compliance.
• Provide guidance on complex HR casework including conduct, performance and attendance.
