Job summary

Amber Labs is a UK-based technology consultancy delivering secure, user-centred digital services. We seek a Java Software Developer to design, develop and maintain high-quality software within a secure delivery environment, working remotely with occasional travel to London workshops.

You will join multidisciplinary agile teams, contribute to scalable applications, modern CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments while upholding engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Active SC Clearance used on a live project within the last 12 months.
• Strong commercial experience with Java development.
• Experience with the Spring Framework.
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and their practical application.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Commitment to Test-Driven Development and high-quality, maintainable code.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain Java-based applications and services.
• Design robust software solutions using established design patterns.
• Build and support containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Champion TDD, code quality and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, testers and stakeholders in agile delivery teams.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and architecture decisions.
• Support the successful delivery of secure digital transformation programmes.
