Job summary

Amber Labs is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across major public sector programmes. This is a hands-on role where you’ll mentor developers, shape technical direction, and help deliver secure, scalable digital services for public sector clients.

You’ll work with TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js, design cloud-native AWS solutions, and drive CI/CD while championing accessibility and security best practices for WCAG-aligned services.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js.
• AWS cloud-native development and architecture.
• Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
• Experience with GitLab and modern software delivery tooling.
• Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience with Nunjucks, Twig, Jinja, or similar templating technologies.
• Experience building accessible applications aligned with WCAG standards.
• Experience delivering secure and scalable solutions within complex environments.
• Previous experience working on UK Public Sector projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications using TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js.
• Build templates and layouts using Nunjucks or similar templating frameworks.
• Design and deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Manage containerised workloads using Docker and Amazon EKS.
• Drive CI/CD automation and engineering best practices.
• Champion Test-Driven Development (TDD) and code quality.
• Deliver services aligned to WCAG accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams.
• Contribute to technical strategy and solution architecture.
