Job summary

Specialist Computer Centres PLC is seeking an experienced IBM i RPG Developer to support and enhance business-critical applications within a leading Financial Services and Insurance organisation. The role focuses on IBM i (AS400) platforms, delivering enhancements, resolving issues and supporting ongoing evolution.

You will develop, maintain and enhance applications on IBM i, troubleshoot incidents, and work with stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with RPG IV, RPG ILE and/or RPG Free Format.
• Extensive experience in IBM i (AS400) environments.
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale, business-critical applications.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 for i and CL programming.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience working within structured development and change management environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance applications running on IBM i (AS/400) platforms.
• Deliver application enhancements and system improvements aligned to business requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application defects.
• Analyse requirements and develop robust technical solutions.
• Support core insurance and financial systems critical to business operations.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and release activities.
• Work closely with stakeholders, analysts and support teams.
• Produce technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support integration and modernisation activities where required.
