Job summary

RHL is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to prepare accurate tenders for ventilation and mechanical systems on data centre and commercial projects. You will take off materials, price labour, and build cost schedules, while ensuring alignment with client specs and industry standards.

Based home-based with regular coordination meetings at our London head office and occasional site visits; travel will be reimbursed.

Qualifications

3-5 years in Ventilation/HVAC estimating.
Proficiency with Office 365.
Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and guidelines.
Accuracy of estimates vs. actual project costs.
Bid success/hit rate on targeted opportunities.
Timely submission of tenders and budgets.

Responsibilities

Take-offs for ductwork, AHUs, fans, dampers, grilles, supports and equipment.
Develop cost build-ups including preliminaries, plant, labour and subcontractors.
Obtain, evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Identify value engineering options while maintaining performance and compliance.
Clarify scope, exclusions and assumptions in proposals and tenders.
Attend pre- and post-tender meetings providing technical and commercial input.
Liaise with design/engineering teams to resolve queries and align estimates with design intent.
Support handover to project delivery with cost breakdowns and risk registers.
Maintain and update unit rates, cost databases and benchmarking information.
