Job summary

Infinity Fitness Dawlish is seeking a Remote HR Consultant to manage disciplinary cases, conduct investigations, and advise on HR matters for directors and managers. You will handle SARs under UK GDPR, maintain confidential case records, and support improvements to HR processes while working remotely for a small business in the leisure sector.

The role requires impartiality, strong report writing, and the ability to manage multiple cases to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience running disciplinary investigations, hearings and appeals.
• Experience handling subject access requests under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Sound working knowledge of UK employment law and the Acas Code of Practice.
• Excellent report writing and note-taking skills.
• Able to stay impartial, handle sensitive matters calmly and keep strict confidentiality.
• Organised and able to manage several cases at once to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage disciplinary cases from start to finish in line with policy and Acas Code.
• Conduct fair investigations, interview staff and witnesses, gather evidence.
• Write investigation reports with findings and recommendations.
• Prepare invitation letters, arrange hearings, and advise the hearing manager.
• Issue outcome letters and maintain accurate case records.
• Manage disciplinary and grievance appeals, ensuring independence and proper review.
• Arrange and minute appeal meetings, prepare final outcome letters.
• Log and respond to SARs within one-month deadline under UK GDPR.
• Review data across systems, redact third-party information, and prepare compliant responses.
• Keep SAR log and flag data protection risks.
• Provide practical HR advice to directors and managers.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and provide weekly case progress updates.
• Recommend improvements to disciplinary, appeals and SAR processes.

REMOTE HR CONSULTANT

Infinity Fitness Dawlish is an independent gym in Dawlish, Devon, offering 24/7 gym access, group classes and personal training. Our motto is "All levels, one goal".

Key responsibilities

Disciplinaries

• Manage internal disciplinary cases from start to finish, in line with company policy and the Acas Code of Practice
• Carry out fair, impartial investigations, including interviewing staff and witnesses and gathering evidence
• Write clear investigation reports with findings and recommendations
• Prepare invitation letters, arrange hearings and advise or support the hearing manager
• Issue outcome letters and keep accurate case records

Appeals

• Manage disciplinary and grievance appeals, making sure they are heard by someone independent of the original decision
• Review the original process and evidence, and carry out further investigation where needed
• Arrange and minute appeal meetings, and prepare final outcome letters

Subject access requests (SARs)

• Log and respond to subject access requests within the one-month legal deadline under UK GDPR
• Search for, collate and review personal data held across our systems, including email, membership and HR records
• Redact third-party and exempt information, and prepare clear, compliant responses
• Keep a SAR log and flag any data protection risks

General

• Give practical HR advice to directors and managers on the cases above
• Keep all information strictly confidential and securely stored
• Provide a short weekly update on case progress
• Recommend improvements to our disciplinary, appeals and SAR processes, and hand over all records at the end of the contract

Skills and experience

Essential
