Job summary

The British Science Association is seeking an EDIS Community and Engagement Officer to coordinate membership activities, onboard members, and support inclusive engagement across science and health sectors.

You will work with the EDIS and Communications teams to deliver events, communications, and community-building activities, ensuring meaningful participation and accessible opportunities for members.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating activity within a membership organisation, community group, network or engagement programme.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage varied tasks and deadlines.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion with practical application in events, communications or engagement.
• Clear written communication and ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Experience developing communications for professional audiences, including meeting materials and event content.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and handling information with care.
• Ability to build positive relationships with members, partners and stakeholders.
• Experience gathering feedback and turning it into practical improvements.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day member onboarding and participation processes.
• Coordinate with Communications Team to develop member communications and engagement content.
• Plan and support delivery of events, workshops and network activity that enable learning and collaboration.
• Maintain accurate membership records and engagement data for information flow.
• Gather member insights to inform programme design and delivery.
• Apply inclusive practice in communications, events and member support.
• Support membership growth and retention by demonstrating value of involvement in EDIS.
• Collaborate with Research and Policy Officer to ensure member insight informs delivery.
• Produce accessible resources and meeting materials for EDIS priorities.
• Promote EDIS activity across sector networks and channels.
