Job summary

Europe PMC at EMBL-EBI is seeking an Outreach and Engagement Officer to connect researchers, developers and text and data miners with open science resources. The role focuses on building collaborations, social media campaigns, training and events, while aligning with Open Science initiatives and AI-enabled workflows.

You will engage diverse user groups, work with partners and funders, and contribute to content and training materials.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Information Science or Life Sciences.
• Experience working in a communications, engagement, or marketing role in a research, scientific publishing, open science, or academic context.
• Experience tailoring content for distinct audiences (early-career researchers, established researchers, developers, open science advocates and funders).
• Experience leading development of engagement strategy and measuring campaigns.
• Proven ability to manage organisational social media channels and analyse reach and engagement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Community Engagement Strategy.
• Manage day-to-day engagement activities: social media, content creation, events, webinars and training.
• Tailor messages for diverse audiences including researchers and developers.
• Create content for channels (Bluesky, LinkedIn, Slack) and produce blogs, news, videos and slides.
• Develop and deliver training sessions and webinars for Europe PMC users.
