Job summary

EMBL-EBI Europe PMC seeks an Outreach and Engagement Officer to connect researchers, developers and open science communities with Europe PMC’s data and tools. You will build collaborative relationships, run social media campaigns, create training, and present at events on campus and online.

You will work with internal teams across EMBL-EBI and funders, shaping outreach to diverse audiences while staying current with Open Science initiatives and AI in research workflows.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Information Science or Life Sciences.
• Experience in communications, engagement, or marketing within research, scientific publishing, open science, or academia.
• Experience tailoring content for distinct audiences (early-career and established researchers, developers, open science advocates, funders).
• Leading development of the engagement strategy.
• Planning and delivering effective campaigns and measuring success.
• Experience managing organisational social media channels and using analytics.
• Hands-on experience in life sciences research or scientific publishing.
• Using social media tools, online training platforms, or webinar software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Community Engagement Strategy.
• Manage day-to-day engagement activities: social media, campaigns, partner liaison, content creation, events, webinars, training, evaluation.
• Tailor messages for early-career and established researchers, developers, and data miners.
• Create channel-appropriate content for Bluesky, LinkedIn, Slack, blogs, and videos.
• Develop and deliver training sessions for Europe PMC user groups.
• Maintain webinars and on-demand training materials.
• Monitor engagement KPIs across channels and web/training.
• Share feedback to inform Europe PMC development strategy.
• Attend events virtually and in person; present talks/posters.
• Contribute to Europe PMC website content and design insights.
