Job summary

tem is hiring a Tech Lead for our Payments squad within Saldo, our Billing and Payments Service. You’ll own the squad's delivery, write design docs, review code, and set the technical direction for payments as we scale.

This hands-on leadership role balances speed, quality, and resilience, driving down cost-to-process while building a high-performance team across senior and junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Track record as a tech lead, owning squad delivery and standards.
• Experience leading from the front: writing design docs, reviewing PRs/ADRs, solving problems hands-on.
• Balance hands-on work with coaching juniors to maintain quality and speed.
• Experience designing team ways of working from scratch for speed, quality and resilience.
• Experience owning cross-team sequencing and diagnosing throughput problems.

Responsibilities

• Own the squad's delivery and the standards it works to.
• Lead from the front line: write specs, review PRs/ADRs, resolve problems through code and workflows.
• Set payments architecture direction for growth and clarity.
• Cut cost-to-process by improving payment accuracy and efficiency.
• Design the squad's operating model and pace.
• Manage sequencing, dependencies, and visibility of work.
• Build a high-performance team and coach junior engineers.
• Flag promotions and hiring gaps in collaboration with your manager.
