Job summary

Cathcart Technology is hiring Java Software Developers to join our engineering teams in a remote-first setup with occasional visits to the South Manchester office. The role offers a salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per year plus bonus and excellent benefits.

You will work on large-scale, business-critical systems in a regulated domain, contributing to testing, cloud technologies and modern tooling within a cross-functional Scrum team to deliver reliable software.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial Java development experience.
• Good software engineering fundamentals.
• Care about writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Be comfortable contributing to production systems within an Agile environment.
• Enjoy collaborating with other Developers rather than working in isolation.
• Want to develop skills across testing, cloud technologies and modern engineering tooling.
• Be curious and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Work on large-scale, business-critical systems in a complex, highly regulated domain.
• Build and enhance reliable, scalable software as part of a cross-functional Scrum team.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Test Analysts and fellow Engineers.
• Contribute ideas and challenge existing approaches.
• Help improve engineering practices across the team.
• Work within Agile and XP practices, including TDD, pairing, continuous integration and shared ownership.
