Job summary

MHCLG is hiring a Finance Business Partner on a 5-month contract, working remotely with occasional travel to London or Birmingham. The post will support the Local Audit Office in establishing budgeting, forecasting and reporting frameworks and provide financial advice to senior leaders.

The role focuses on financial management, governance and delivering robust financial information to support decision-making within the new LAO structure.

Qualifications

• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial monitoring or month-end processes.
• Ability to analyse and interpret financial information for non-finance audiences.
• Experience using financial systems to support governance and controls.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial advice and challenge to senior leaders.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, monitoring and management reporting processes.
• Prepare statutory/annual financial statements with outsourced services as needed.
• Coordinate VAT and cash management activities, including forecasting and liquidity reporting.
• Support procurement, invoicing, supplier data and purchase to pay processes.
• Maintain asset and journal entries, accruals and adjustments with proper controls.
