Job summary

Alignerr is seeking an Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer to help shape how AI understands complex environmental challenges. This remote, hourly-contract role lets you apply your graduate-level knowledge on contaminant transport, LCA, and regulatory compliance, producing rigorous solutions and providing feedback to AI models.

You will work asynchronously up to 40 hours per week, with no prior AI experience required. You may contribute from anywhere in the world.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or closely related field.
• Strong foundational knowledge in aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation.
• Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in writing; precise around unit conversions and regulatory logic.
• No prior AI or data annotation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design complex environmental engineering scenarios across domains like contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, and LCA.
• Author rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions with chemical dosage calculations and hydraulic models.
• Audit AI outputs for accuracy, safety, and regulatory standards (EPA, ISO 14001).
• Provide structured feedback to improve AI reasoning and correct logical errors.
