Job summary

Alignerr is seeking an Environmental Engineering AI Data Trainer to challenge and refine advanced language models on environmental engineering problems. You’ll design rigorous challenges, author benchmark solutions, and audit AI outputs, all while working independently on a flexible remote schedule.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in environmental engineering or closely related fields and can communicate precise technical concepts in writing. No prior AI experience required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or a closely related discipline.
• Strong foundational knowledge in aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, hazardous waste remediation, or EHS compliance.
• Able to communicate complex technical and ecological concepts clearly and precisely in written form.
• Detail‑oriented with a high degree of precision for unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory frameworks.
• Self‑motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design Advanced Problems — Develop technically rigorous environmental engineering challenges spanning contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, LCA, and more.
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write detailed, step-by-step solutions including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations that serve as benchmark responses.
• Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and technical analyses for accuracy, safety, and regulatory alignment.
• Improve AI Reasoning — Identify flaws in model reasoning and provide structured feedback to sharpen AI performance.
• Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments asynchronously on your own schedule.
