Job summary

BRE is seeking a Technical Consultant to join its Energy team in the UK. You will deliver energy consultancy, research and product development for government and commercial clients, while helping to advance BRE's energy transition initiatives and built-environment expertise.

You will work on projects influencing energy policy, improving building performance and developing innovative energy tools, reporting to clients and collaborating across BRE functions.

Qualifications

• Degree with relevant technical focus in energy, environment or data science.
• Experience in energy consultancy, sustainability or building performance preferred.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and building performance methodologies (SAP, SBEM, HEM).
• Experience with programming or data analysis tools (Python, C++, MATLAB or equivalent).
• Understanding of building physics, data science, ML or AI in energy systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working with clients or stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver energy consultancy projects for government and commercial clients.
• Contribute to research, policy and product development initiatives for energy transition.
• Analyse energy, building performance and sustainability data to provide insights.
• Apply energy calculation methodologies and building physics to client projects.
• Support BRE products, tools and services development and improvement.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations and client communications.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to industry discussions and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements.
• Support business development through client engagement and proposals.
