Job summary

BRE is a world-leading organisation focused on energy, sustainability, and the built environment. We are seeking a Technical Consultant to join our Energy team to deliver consultancy, research, and product development for government and commercial clients.

You will work on projects to improve building performance, influence energy policy, and help accelerate the UK's journey towards net zero, collaborating with BRE teams and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy consultancy, sustainability or building performance.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency methods (SAP, SBEM, HEM or equivalent).
• Experience with programming or data analysis tools (Python, C++, Rust, MATLAB).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience engaging with clients or stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver energy consultancy projects for government and commercial clients.
• Contribute to research, policy and product development initiatives.
• Analyse complex energy, building performance and sustainability data.
• Apply energy calculation methodologies and building physics principles.
• Support the development and improvement of BRE products, tools and services.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations and client communications.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Contribute to industry discussions, thought leadership activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within projects and team processes.
• Support business development activities through client engagement, networking and proposal contributions.
