Job summary

The YOU Trust is seeking an Employment Specialist to support Dorset residents aged 16+ under the Care Act who face barriers to work. You will deliver personalised guidance through coaching, job applications, training opportunities and ongoing support to help individuals secure meaningful paid employment.

You will work with autistic, neurodivergent and other clients, coordinating with families, employers and professionals to address barriers and promote independence.

Qualifications

• Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care/Employability or similar.
• Understanding of barriers and challenges faced by people with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
• Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of employment rights, welfare benefits and welfare reform as it relates to work.
• Working IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word; familiarity with social media.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised employment advice and support, and refer to specialist agencies when needed.
• Help identify skills, strengths and employment aspirations; develop personalised employment plans.
• Offer 1:1 CV writing, job applications, interview prep and job-search support.
• Assist clients to access interviews, showcase strengths, and gain confidence for work.
• Develop relationships with employers to promote inclusive recruitment and reasonable adjustments.
• Support clients and employers to settle into roles and maintain sustainable employment.
