Interface Recruitment seeks a COBOL Technical Lead to own platform reliability for a high‑volume mainframe estate. Lead the direction, set standards, and mentor teams to deliver results while keeping services stable. This role focuses on COBOL, CICS, JCL and DB2, driving pragmatic modernisation, automation, and safer releases without a rip-and-replace approach.

Qualifications

• Proven COBOL mainframe development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong DB2 SQL and performance tuning knowledge.
• Experience leading teams and setting coding standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead COBOL change and platform improvement workstreams with operational safety.
• Define development standards, governance and documentation discipline.
• Oversee batch and online workloads including JCL scheduling.
• Drive performance improvements in DB2 and CICS.
• Coordinate incident management and post-mortems.
• Partner with architecture to expose mainframe capabilities via APIs.
