Job summary

Canal & River Trust in the West Midlands is recruiting a Civil Engineering Technician to join the Asset Management team. The role is field-based with significant site activity, inspections and data collection to support asset maintenance and renewal decisions.

Under supervision you will develop briefs for small works, conduct site surveys, and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders across the Trust. A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a wide variety of asset inspections including service and safety, general inspections and principal inspections.
• Collect data to inform asset degradation models.
• Identification of defects and prioritisation of repairs.
• Undertake investigations and monitoring of assets and asset related defects.
• Provide support to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Engage with customers and external stakeholders to promote a positive image of the Trust.
• Contribute technical advice during feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases of repair work and projects.
• Support maintenance, repair and renewal works for delivery by Trust teams and contractors.

Education

HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or associated discipline
