Canal & River Trust is seeking a Civil Engineer for the Design & Development team to design and manage repairs across our historic canal and river assets. You will prepare specifications, brief documents and work with construction teams, contractors and consultants to deliver robust solutions.

The role emphasizes design excellence, stakeholder coordination and site inspections across the UK network, with hybrid working and required travel to hubs in London, Leighton Buzzard or Gloucester.

Qualifications

• Academic or vocational qualification in civil engineering or associated discipline.
• Membership of ICE/IStructE.
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
• Awareness of environmental considerations in relation to civil engineering design.
• Practical work-based experience of civil engineering design and construction, preferably in a water environment.
• Knowledge of historic infrastructure, preferably in a water environment.
• Practical experience with AutoCAD.

Responsabilités

• Investigate and develop clear design and construction solutions, ensuring best value and whole life costs.
• Prepare repair specifications, works packages and drawings.
• Acting as Designer under CDM 2015, manage and eliminate risk.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of works.
• Undertake site inspections through the project life cycle to determine appropriate solutions.
