Job summary

The Royal British Legion is hiring three Benefits & Income Maximisation Advisers to join our Income Maximisation team. You will provide high quality telephone and digital advice to RBL beneficiaries, helping them maximise income, plan budgets, and access benefits, grants and financial assistance.

Reporting to the Income Maximisation Manager, you will manage a varied caseload, complete entitlement checks, advise on grants, assist with applications, and maintain case records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of providing welfare benefits advice and in-depth knowledge of the UK benefits system, including experience in conducting benefits checks, calculations and budgeting assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive welfare benefits advice and support to beneficiaries experiencing financial difficulties
• Complete benefit entitlement checks and calculations, identifying opportunities to maximise income
• Advise on available grants, discretionary support and financial assistance from government bodies, local authorities, energy providers and charitable organisations
• Support beneficiaries with benefit applications, form completion and signposting to appropriate services
• Produce detailed written advice and maintain accurate case records using case management systems
• Carry out budgeting and income maximisation assessments
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal RBL support services, partner agencies, charities and statutory organisations
