Job summary

ElevenLabs in a remote-first setup is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Safety. You will design, build, and scale automated moderation systems and guardrails across our products, working closely with ML engineers to deploy models into production.

You will own production infrastructure and internal safety services, ensure reliability and monitoring, and collaborate with Product, Legal, and Safety Policy to translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience, including APIs, databases, and scalable services.
• Proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks.
• Experience building distributed, cloud-based applications.
• Ability to own end-to-end systems from design to monitoring.
• Experience building internal tools or frontend interfaces when needed.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Build safety systems: design, develop, and scale automated moderation systems and guardrails for AI agents across ElevenLabs' products.
• Respond to emerging threats with the Investigations team to improve safety systems and detection mechanisms.
• Own production infrastructure: build and maintain internal safety services, architecture, deployment, and monitoring.
• Bring ML models into production: deploy and integrate fine-tuned and proprietary models into safety systems.
• Build end-to-end solutions: develop backend services, APIs, internal tools, and user-facing interfaces for moderation and policy enforcement.
• Collaborate across teams: work with Product, Legal, and Safety Policy to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
• Shape our technical direction: contribute to architectural decisions and evolving safety infrastructure.
