Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer, Platform to shape the backend that powers our public TTS API and subscription systems. You will own APIs across payments, auth, and analytics, ensuring correctness and efficiency in a distributed, office-less environment.

You’ll collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep our backend architecture ahead of the product’s direction, and you’ll automate repetitive work to enable the team to move fast and safely.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS/Azure or another cloud.
• A habit of giving away work you used to own and something to show for it.
• A daily working setup with AI agents you can describe in detail.
• The instinct to check a result against logs, database state, and actual requests.
• Judgment about what not to build and why you dropped it.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Take on services you didn't write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Establish that a change is correct before it ships, and leave behind checks that keep it correct.
• Automate repetitive parts of your role and focus on higher-impact work.
• Turn personal work into repeatable processes for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of the product.
