Job summary

Speechify seeks a Software Engineer for the Platform team in Glasgow. You will design and own the backend APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and the TTS API, ensuring correctness at scale across multiple clients and platforms.

You will drive performance improvements, automate repetitive tasks, and collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep the architecture ahead of where the product is going.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• A habit of giving away work you used to own, with tangible examples.
• Experience describing AI agent-based workflows in detail.
• Judgment to avoid building unnecessary features and to explain decisions.
• Comfort with Docker and containerized deployments; Kubernetes experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve services to be faster, cheaper, and more robust.
• Validate changes with rigorous correctness checks before shipping.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to free up time.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable solutions.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture ahead.
