Job summary

Intermedia is seeking a Backend API Services Developer to design and implement scalable backend services for our cloud-hosted PBX platform. The role blends pragmatic problem solving with strong API design, focusing on reliability and observability.

The role is primarily remote with occasional visits to Bristol or London. You will work in a Dev & Engineering team responsible for API and database backends, with opportunities to influence architecture and wire up CI/CD and test automation across

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficient in Python development.
• Experience with Linux-based development and deployments (Nginx, Tomcat).
• Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and APIs.
• Solid SQL and relational databases knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD and test automation.
• Experience with concurrency patterns and debugging.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for our cloud hosted PBX platform.
• Contribute to architecture decisions considering functionality, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and observability.
• Use data-led analysis to drive improvements in system performance (profiling, optimization, capacity thinking).
• Debug and resolve complex issues in production and pre-production environments.
• Collaborate with QA to define functional and performance test strategies and scenarios.
• Write clean, maintainable, unit tested code and raise engineering standards through reviews and mentoring.
