Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Remote ACC Clinical Coder (Band 5) to undertake coding of complex patient data and ensure high-quality coded data in line with national standards.

The role includes leading coding for complex cases, maintaining accuracy, and supporting the coding team with audits and training. Band 5 includes a 10% Recruitment & Retention Premium, subject to renewal.

Qualifications

• Good level of education; GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (C or above).
• Completion of NCCQ or equivalent clinical coding courses and up-to-date refresher training.
• Educated to undergraduate degree level; qualified clinical coding auditor/trainer.

Responsibilities

• Lead coding of complex activity including deceased patients to the highest standard of quality coded data.
• Maintain coding accuracy when audited in line with national requirements.
• Assist management in validation of coded data and monitor data quality issues.
• Organise cover for absent team members and extract clinical information from notes for coding across wards and specialties.
• Participate in development and management of coding services to enhance accuracy of clinical coding.
• Provide expert knowledge of coding data for Payment by Results and ensure timely, complete data across episodes.
